Curriculum

At Fellowship Christian Academy, classrooms are structured to provide age-appropriate learning environments. Teachers prepare lessons based on WEE LEARN curriculum, which is published by LifeWay. WEE LEARN is a hands-on, Bible-based guide separated into 24 thematic units utilizing learning centers such as books, art, blocks, nature, dramatic play, and manipulatives.

Bible stories are included in daily lessons to enhance the unit themes being taught. Weekly music classes offer extra emphasis on learning simple songs, using rhythmic instruments, sign language, and introducing basic music concepts. PE/Wellness classes are attended to promote good health, muscle coordination, balance, and listening skills.

Toddlers

Our toddler program provides a safe and secure atmosphere, and promotes small group interaction between children learning to play and share with others. Basic learning such as colors, animal sounds, textures, and symbols are introduced. Toddlers are exploring, learning, and developing new relationships. The children learn through exercise, music, outdoor play, simple toys, and games.

2 Year Olds

When they turn two, children become more organized and express themselves in a variety of ways. They begin to learn about large and small groups. Simple step instructions can be followed. They have units of study that include such things as season changes, self and family, animals, helpers, and growing.

3 Year Olds

At this stage, children become more independent and confident. They learn cooperation skills and advance to longer group times. Units include numbers, letters, transportation, comparison, healthy foods, and community helpers. They work on following directions and developing positive self-expression. At three, children can respond to more complex instructions and anticipate structured daily activities.

4 Year Olds

As they prepare for Kindergarten, children learn pre-reading skills and letter recognition by sight and sound. Science units teach them about wind, magnets, water, and nature. Math and writing centers are added to the classroom curriculum. They learn greater responsibility with classroom job assignments and taking care of personal belongings. Chapel is held weekly, and character traits such as honesty, obedience, perseverance, and friendship are taught with Biblical truths and stories. Four year olds also participate in off-campus field trips.
